Father walks up the stairs.
—   Boink, crack... (the stairs creak)
We hear a loafer shoe, size 9, walking up the oak staircase,
carrying a 176-pound weight.

But we even hear more.

—   Is he nervous?
—   Is his sprained ankle still bothering him?
—   Or maybe he forgot his keys?

Conversely, we can assemble sound stories based on sounds, as for example a cheerful bicycle, dancing trees and a smitten cow...

Aifoon is an educational arts organisation that researches silence in an active way. We organise workshops and trainings for children, youngsters, (aspiring) teachers, (ICT-)coordinators, art docents, etc. We offer a number of formats but also organise tailored courses.
The goal: each participant creates his/her individual sound story and looks for images to match. The resulting movies will be posted on our web site (see Projecten).
PS: You do not have to be a scenario writer to use the poetic power of sounds to tell something. A good pair of ears already takes you a long way. Also, rather than getting distracted by technical details, we let the story lead us, aiming to communicate the sound story in a personal, specific way.
